2003 Placido Chianti D.O.C.G.
For dinner I had your basic spaghetti. I was lazy so I used sauce from a jar and doctored it with onions, tomatoes, hamburger, spices and chili peppers. I can't help it that I like things hotter than your average joe. *grin*
I love Chiantis because they are such a great basic, bold dinner wine. And it stands up well to spicy food.
Anyway. This chianti didn't disappoint. It is a deep, dark, purple. It smells and tastes like juicy grapes and plums. (Trite to mention grapes explicitly, I suppose. *laff*) It's smooth and rich and hasn't much bite (little tannins?) on the finish. It's so smooth that it's difficult to distinguish particular tastes in each mouthful. It's just your really good, basic, red wine. I like it.
